Green Knights Place Fourth at MWC Team Tournament

MADISON - St. Norbert College dropped its final two dual matches of the year, falling 5-0 to Grinnell College and a hotly contested 5-4 third-place match to Lawrence University at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

St. Norbert finished the season with a dual-meet record of 12-20. Grinnell went on to top Lake Forest College 5-0 to win its seventh consecutive MWC title.

The Green Knights dropped two of three doubles points against Lawrence. Eric Koppmann and Ethan Kadow beat Cooper Smith and Peter Mohr 8-6 at No. 3 for the Green Knights' point.

St. Norbert swept the Nos. 4-6 flights. Mike Hyrczyk beat Smith 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4, followed by Matt Lobeck's 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Maz Zlevor at No. 5. Kadow picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mohr at No. 6.

The Green Knights lost a couple of three-set heartbreakers in singles action. Lawrence's Ryan Dunn topped Derek Harrington 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1, and Caleb Ray beat Eric Koppmann 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2.
