DE PERE - St. Norbert College junior Nick Tabisz has been named to the 10-person 2010 College Division Academic All-District V at-large first team as sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine.

Tabisz, a Kettering, Ohio, native, owns a 3.80 grade point average with majors in mathematics and psychology and helped lead St. Norbert's hockey team to a national runner-up finish in 2010. Tabisz scored eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points this past season, and was named a first-team All-American at defenseman for the second consecutive year by both the American Hockey Coaches Association and U.S. College Hockey Online. Tabisz is the only player in St. Norbert history to be named first-team All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association in each of his first three seasons.

Tabisz advances to the national ballot for the at-large Academic All-America team, which is announced in June. The at-large team encompasses student-athletes from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, men's volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

To be eligible for national or regional selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after All-District teams are picked from eight geographic regions nationally. District V's College Division encompasses Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota schools belonging to NCAA Division II, III or NAIA affiliations.
