DE PERE - St. Norbert College and Monmouth College battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in a semifinal match in the Midwest Conference Tournament, but Monmouth advanced 3-1 in a shootout at Schneider Stadium in De Pere.

St. Norbert (12-4-3) missed its first three shots in the shootout, while Monmouth made two of its first three. The Green Knights made their fourth try and Monmouth missed to stay alive, but St. Norbert's fifth shot hit the post to give the Scots the shootout 3-1. Monmouth will face Knox College, a 1-0 winner over Grinnell, at 6 p.m. Saturday in the tournament championship.

Monmouth (11-7-1) jumped ahead when Kara-Jade Gordon scored with Aspen Chadderdon assisting at 23:58. That goal would hold up until the 79th minute, when Monmouth was whistled for a handball in the penalty area. Madalyn Sanderfoot converted the penalty kick at 78:19, her 14th marker of the season.

St. Norbert outshot Monmouth 21-20 and corner kicks were even 7-7.

Ally Magiera made 11 saves for the Green Knights, and Kensey Arlt made eight stops for Monmouth.

Ellie Lochner was awarded the MWC Elite 20 Award for 2017 women's soccer prior to the match.
