Green Knights Split With Knox

JANESVILLE - St. Norbert College split a Midwest Conference doubleheader with Knox College, winning 9-1 before losing 5-1 at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex.

St. Norbert had a big seven-run second inning in the opener. Carley Frauenhoff started the uprising with a solo home run. Kelsey Berna drove in a run on a bunt, while Brianna Braeger's infield single brought in another run. Amanda Diedrich had a two-run single and Frauenhoff added a two-run single to complete the scoring.

Alyssa Sikora stroked a home run to open the third inning, while the Green Knights added an unearned run later in the frame to take a 9-0 lead. Knox would score its run in the fourth inning.

Frauenhoff was 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Green Knights, who had seven hits.

Ellie Olsen allowed four hits in five innings of work, striking out six without walking a batter.

In the nightcap, the Prairie Fire would score twice in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead. St. Norbert scored its only run in the fifth inning on Leigh Grall's RBI double. Knox would add an insurance run in the sixth inning.

St. Norbert finished with six hits, getting two apiece from Braeger and Grall. Emma Molenhouse took the loss, allowing 10 hits with one strikeout in six innings pitched.
