Vandenberg Co-Elite 20 Recipient at MWC Tennis Championships

MADISON - St. Norbert junior Alex Vandenberg was named the co-recipient of the Midwest Conference Elite 20 Award for men's tennis in 2018 prior to the start of the MWC Doubles Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. He is the eighth Green Knight to earn a MWC Elite 20 Award thus far in the 2017-18 academic year.

Ben Vande Zande and Robert Quinlan lost in the semifinals at No. 1 flight by an 8-5 score to Cornell College's Hayden Dzurisin and Shoma Kishimoto. The pair defeated Lake Forest College's Nick Zazove and Matt Kacyn 9-8 in their quarterfinal match.

Vandenberg and Joe Oleniczak dropped their semifinal match at No. 3 to Grinnell College's Ishaan Tibrewal and Zach Lane 8-2. The pair topped Monmouth's Joseph Shie and Zach Harris 8-6 in their quarterfinal match.

John Zanotti and Zach Simonet reached the consolation championship match of the No. 2 flight, losing a hard-fought battle to Monmouth College's Paulo Pliego and Saxon Day by an 8-6 score. The pair defeated Ripon College's Adrian Granados and Junmo Kwon 8-1 in the consolation semifinal.
