Thompson-Meyers, Staehling Named Pre-Season All-America

DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior kicker Spenser Thompson-Meyers and junior wide receiver Samuel Staehling have both been named third-team NCAA Division III Pre-Season All-America by D3football.com.

Thompson-Meyers, a San Ramon, Calif., native, was 13-for-17 on field-goal attempts last season and was 12-for-13 on tries inside 50 yards. His St. Norbert-record 55-yard field goal against Grinnell College last year tied for the longest made field goal in Division III in 2017, while his 49-yard mark against Beloit College a year ago tied for the 11th longest.

Thompson-Meyers also kicked off 60 times for an average of 61.2 yards per kickoff, which included 21 touchbacks. His 13 field goals last season is also a St. Norbert record, while his 25 career field goals is one short of Randy Hill's St. Norbert record of 26. Thompson-Meyers was a first-team All-Midwest Conference selection for the third consecutive season.

Staehling, a Plymouth native, hauled in a St. Norbert-record 16 touchdown receptions in 2017. He totaled 41 receptions overall for 916 yards, good for 22.3 yards per reception.

In just two seasons, Staehling has 25 touchdown receptions to rank third in St. Norbert history. He also has 72 receptions for 1,615 yards in his career. A Dean's List student and Academic All-Midwest Conference honoree, Staehling was a first-team All-Midwest Conference choice in 2017. A first-team All-MWC selection a year ago, Staehling was the MWC Newcomer of the Year in 2016 and earned the MWC Elite 20 Award for football in 2017.
