Green Knights Win Third Consecutive MWC Championship

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. - St. Norbert College captured its third consecutive Midwest Conference women's cross country title with a strong showing at the MWC Championship at Foss Park.

The Green Knights romped to their eighth overall MWC title with a team score of 36 points, while also netting six All-MWC honorees. Monmouth College was a distant second place with 62 points, while Grinnell College was third with 79 points.

Graceanne Tarsa became the third St. Norbert harrier to win a MWC women's cross country championship by besting the field by 11 seconds, turning in a time of 22 minutes 49 seconds. Tarsa joins Julie Deyo (2001 and 2002) and Jenny Scherer (2008 and 2010) as MWC individual cross country champions.

Gretchen Price finished fifth in 23:09, while Abby Janto was sixth in 23:24. Alex Bruley was 11th in 23:53, while Erin Sorg rounded out St. Norbert's scoring with a time of 23:53 to finish 13th.

Elisabeth Klumpyan also earned an All-MWC finish by placing 19th with a time of 24:12. Joyana Tarsa completed the Green Knights' top seven finishers by earning a 26th-place showing in 24:32.

Kelly Heniff earned the MWC Elite 20 Award for women's cross country, awarded to the participant with the best grade point average. Heniff finished 58th overall with a time of 25:58.
