Green Knights Charge Past Grinnell to Steal Win; in MWC Title Bout for 11th Straight Year

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - St. Norbert College rallied from a two-set deficit to post a hard-fought 3-2 win over Grinnell College in a Midwest Conference Tournament semifinal match at Cornell College's Small Multi-Sport Center.

The Green Knights (13-14), who will be appearing in their 11th consecutive Midwest Conference Tournament championship match, stormed back to drop the Pioneers 23-25, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13, 15-9. St. Norbert will face Cornell College at 1 p.m. Saturday in the tournament championship.

St. Norbert held fifth-set leads of 4-1 and 8-3 before Grinnell came back and squared the decisive set at 9-9. The Green Knights closed out the match with an impressive finishing kick, scoring the last six points. Halie Ferry had two kills, while Grace Baumann and Jaisah Lee had one kills apiece in the stretch run, while Grinnell had two hitting errors.

The Green Knights saved their best set for last, getting 11 kills against two errors in 25 attempts. St. Norbert hit .231 overall in the match, getting 71 kills against 26 errors in 195 attempts. Ferry and Baumann had 18 kills apiece, while Hanna Strohm finished with 16. Emily Rohloff had 31 assists, while Danielle Dolan added 19.

Lee and Ferry had 20 digs apiece, while Rohloff added 18, Baumann 16 and Helen Hecht 15. Strohm also totaled five blocks.

Grinnell hit .131 for the match, with 48 kills against 23 errors in 181 attempts. The Pioneers, who had 16 kills in the final three sets after getting 32 in the first two, were led by Kaylin Kuhn's 13 kills.
