STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College saw its season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to UW-Stevens Point in a NCAA Division III Tournament national quarterfinal game at a sold-out K.B. Willett Arena.

The Green Knights (23-5-3), ranked No. 3 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, were playing their first road game in the quarterfinal round of the tournament since 1997 and searching for their fourth consecutive Frozen Four appearance. UW-Stevens Point (27-0-2) is ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Poll.

The Pointers drew first blood when Kelly O'Brien put home a rebound at 16:24 of the first period. Moments later, St. Norbert defenseman Tyler Andrews found himself alone in the slot with his initial shot going wide. The carom off the boards came right back to Andrews, but his second shot was stopped by Stevens Point goaltender Connor Ryckman to keep the one-goal lead into intermission.

Stevens Point pulled away with a strong second period, outshooting the Green Knights 12-6 in the middle frame. The Pointers doubled their lead when Tanner Karty finished off a tic-tac-toe passing combination at 3:46. St. Norbert then killed off a major Stevens Point power play midway through the period, but the Pointers added to their lead when T.J. Roo banged home a rebound for a power-play marker at 17:57.

The two penalty kills in the second period took its toll on the Green Knights' energy level, with Stevens Point outshooting St. Norbert 11-3 in the third period. St. Norbert had an extra attacker for the final 2:01, but couldn't get on the board.

Stevens Point outshot the Green Knights 35-17. St. Norbert goaltender T.J. Black made 32 saves, while Pointers' netminder Connor Ryckman made all 17 stops.

The Green Knights were 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Pointers were 1-for-3.
