St. Norbert Wins Fourth Consecutive State Private College Title

BELOIT - St. Norbert College romped to its fourth consecutive Wisconsin Private College Invitational championship at Beloit College's Strong Stadium.

The Green Knights blew past the competition with 255.33 points, finishing well ahead of runner-up Carroll University's 142 points. St. Norbert won nine of the 20 events.

The 4x400-meter relay of Sarah Duff, Morgan McClone, Maddie Lebrun and Cora Purdue turned in a time of 4:01.09. The 4x100-meter relay of Audrey Makope, Lebrun, Duff and Sydney Zima was second in 49.17 seconds.

Duff won the 200-meter dash in 26.73 seconds, while Lebrun claimed the 400-meter dash in 57.28 seconds. The Tarsa sisters swept first place in the middle distances, with Joyana winning the 800-meter run in 2:20.72 and Graceanne the 1,500-meter run in 4:55.76.

Gretchen Price earned a first-place showing in the 10,000-meter run in 39:37.02, while Sarah Wiseman won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.15.

Kristina Herman won the shot put with a toss of 40 feet 7 3/4 inches, and Kirsten Carrigan took the pole vault with a height of 10-10.

Haidyn Mueller was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.74 seconds, while Lauren Rottier was second in the long jump at 4-11. Graceanne Tarsa was second in the pole vault at 10-10. Elisabeth Klumpyan was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run at 20:13.08. Morgan McClone was second in the 800-meter run at 2:23.25. Makope was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.96 seconds.

Alex Bruley finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:27.62, part of six St. Norbert thinclads to finish in the top eight in the event. Megan Cibulka was fifth in 2:30.37, Purdue seventh in 2:33.85 and Tatiana Johnson eighth in 2:34.18. St. Norbert had five of the top eight in the 400-meter dash, with Claire Van Beek finishing fourth in 1:03.37, Brianne Barta sixth in 1:03.79, Hailey Ruplinger seventh in 1:03.94 and Nicole Barth in eighth in 1:05.52.

Savanna Smith was third in the shot put at 38-7 1/2 and in the hammer throw at 141-8. Katherine Wanie was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.08, while Mueller was fourth in 1:11.26. Sara DeGroot was third in the pole vault at 10-4, while Audrey Moore was eighth at 9-4 1/4. Clara Yoap was third in the 10,000-meter run in 41:08.50, while Kelly Heniff was fourth in 42:00.59.

Wanie was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.30 seconds, followed by Hayley Winzenried in seventh in 17.30 seconds and Anna Giblin eighth in 17.43 seconds. Winzenried added a fourth-place showing in the long jump at 14-11 1/2, with Kelley Gardipee fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:03.69. Herman was fourth in the discus at 123-4 and Smith was seventh at 110-6.

Emma Sweere was fifth in the shot put at 36-8 1/4, with Wiseman added a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 27.93 seconds. Mueller was fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.66 seconds while Emilia Lichty was sixth in 13.74 seconds. Elle Dannecker was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 13:22.96, while Sydney Moore was sixth in the high jump at 4-7.
