St. Norbert Finishes Second at MWC Championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't hold off a hard-charging Lake Forest College on the final day of the Midwest Conference Championship at Aldeen Golf Club.

The runner-up Green Knights shot a 309 to finish the tournament 308-307-309--924, six strokes behind Lake Forest. The Foresters made the third-round circuit in a tournament-best round of 298, posting a final score of 312-308-298--918. Knox College's Duncan Wheeler won in the individual championship with a total of 74-71-76--221.

St. Norbert was led individually by Luke Bourneuf, who finished in a tie for third place. Bourneuf totaled a 75-70-78--223 to finish two strokes off the leader.

Also earning All-MWC honors were Eric Bagg, who finished fifth, and Jonathan Cone, who placed tied for ninth. Bagg fired a final-round score of 76 to total 79-80-78--230, whole Cone ended his tournament with a 78 to register a 79-80-78--237.

Evan Van Enkevort finished in a tie for 11th place, finishing with a tournament total of 78-80-80--238. Jack Markham tied for 15th place with an 84-79-78--241, while Alex Grove finished in 17th place with an 81-84-77--242.
