Schermacher Takes Pole Vault as Green Knights Sit In Second at MWC Championship

DE PERE - St. Norbert College freshman Jaxsen Schermacher gained St. Norbert College's lone individual title of the day with a win in the pole vault at the 2019 Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights scored 35 points on the first day through six of 20 total event. Monmouth College leads the field with 73 points, while Cornell College is in third place with 29 points.

Schermacher cleared a height of 14 feet 3 1/4 inches on his first try to win a taut battle with Monmouth College's Sebastian Wolf for the pole vault title. Max Schermacher finished in third place with a height of 13-5 1/4, while Noah Kleiman was seventh in the event at 11-11 3/4.

Max Schermacher was fourth in the javelin throw at 152-11, while Ryan Priebe finished in eighth place at 145-5. Tyler Lemens was fourth in the long jump at 21-3 1/2, while Travis Heschke was sixth at 20-11 3/4. Joe Gasick added a sixth-place showing in the 1,500-meter run in 4:04.01.
