Van Hiel Garners AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Status

DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior middle blocker Lexie Van Hiel has been named an honorable mention All-America selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Van Hiel, who earlier earned All-Midwest Region honors, is the first St. Norbert women's volleyball player to earn All-America status.

Van Hiel, an Elgin, Ill., native, played in 116 sets and finished the season with a robust .368 hitting percentage, which currently ranks 28th nationally in Division III statistics. Van Hiel totaled 329 kills with 79 errors in 680 attempts. She also finished with a team-high 84 blocks and added 28 digs.

In 119 career matches and 429 sets, Van Hiel finished just shy of 1,000 career kills with 991. Her career hitting percentage of .306 includes 291 errors in 2,287 attempts. Van Hiel also has 332 career blocks with 112 digs.

St. Norbert, which is currently 23rd nationally in kills per set and 36th in hitting percentage, finished the season 24-9 overall and 8-1 in the Midwest Conference.
