Green Knights Finish Strong Second at MWC Indoor Championship

GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College finished comfortably in second place at the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Grinnell College's Bear Athletic Center.

The Green Knights registered 146 points, finishing behind Monmouth College's 188 1/2 points. Grinnell was a distant third place with 86 points.

Oren Kestell set a new St. Norbert indoor record with his performance in the high jump, winning the conference title with a leap of 6 feet 8 3/4 inches, a mark also tied for 13th in Division III this season.

Joe Gasick won his second conference title of the weekend, winning the 800-meter run in 1:58.65 after taking gold in the 1-mile run on Friday. Sam Stelloh finished in first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.30 seconds. Stelloh added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 51.43 seconds.

Randy Johnson finished in fourth place in the 800-meter dash in 2:00.57, followed by Matt Holloway in fifth place at 2:02.02. Ryan Priebe was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 51.61 seconds.

Daniel Fenn, Gregory Bernasek, Peyton Janto and Priebe finished in fifth place in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:33.39. Noah Kleiman finished in fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.89 seconds, followed by James McKnight in seventh place at 9.13 seconds. Nic Greenlaw was fifth in the 60-meter dash at 7.17 seconds and added a sixth-place showing in the 200-meter dash in 23.16 seconds.

Miles Mulder finished sixth in the 3,000-meter run at 9:06.08, followed by Lorenz Jordan in seventh at 9:07.26. Samuel Fletcher finished seventh in the triple jump at 42-9 1/2, while Karter Decker was eighth in 42-7. Robby Cicciarelli was seventh in the high jump at 6-0 3/4 and Kleiman placed eighth at 6-0 3/4.
