General Chemistry Concentration

  • CHEM 305 Inorganic Chemistry
  • Any two other chemistry courses numbered 300 or above

Biochemistry Concentration

  • BIOL 120 Introduction to Cell & Molecular Biology (fall)
  • BIOL 121 Introduction to Organismal Biology (spring)
  • BIOL 244 Genetics
  • BIOL 373 Molecular Biology (spring)
  • CHEM 351 Biochemistry 2

Any one other chemistry course at 300 level or above

Students intending to go on to graduate studies should realize that mathematics courses such as MATH 233 and MATH 310 are required by many graduate programs in chemistry. The chemistry discipline also recommends a CHEM 305 and CHEM 310 as electives for these students. In a paradigm where a choice is offered, we recommend the PHYS 121/PHYS 122 over the PHYS 111/PHYS 112 sequence and CHEM 232 over CHEM 222.
