A Day at St. Norbert, a taste of those college years

Alums will have the chance to come back to campus next month to see many of their former professors and to recreate the excitement of learning at college. A Day at St. Norbert is scheduled for Saturday, June 13.
The one-day experience includes academic sessions, speakers, lunch and a tour of the new Mulva Library, nearing completion. A reception on the river brings the event to a close.
Chris Betcher (Alumni and Parent Relations) says the academic sessions will do more than allow alumni to get back into the classroom. They will also give professors the chance to reconnect with former students, as small groups enjoy once again engaging in class discussions and lectures. Responding to feedback from participants at past Alumni Colleges, St. Norbert is offering this new one-day experience instead, so that alums need not take time off work to attend.
Three sessions, each offering a choice of four presentations, will give participants a chance to personalize their Day at St. Norbert. Faculty members speaking include Ken Zahorski (English, Emeritus) on poetry; Brian Pirman (Art) on Photoshop; Eric High (Music) on Miles Davis; Kevin Quinn (Economics) on the economy; David Duquette (Philosophy) on Human Rights; Jim Neuliep (Communication) on cross-cultural communication; the Rev. Jim Neilson, O.Praem., ’88 (Art) on contemporary art; Wolfgang Grassl (Business Administration) on lessons from the economic crisis; Sabine Hyland (Anthropology) on ancient gods and temples of Peru; and Tom Faase (Sociology) on the family. Robert Boyer (English, Emeritus) will lead a book discussion.

Judy Turba ’76 will be back to share her “Zambian Adventures” and will speak in the afternoon.
