College launches major fundraising campaign
The college has formally announced the launch of Campaign St. Norbert: Full Ahead. This multi-year initiative to raise $90 million is intended to help the college fulfill its strategic plan.
The campaign will focus on five key areas:
- Increasing the amount of need- and merit-based financial aid to students.
- Supporting faculty programs.
- Enhancing the overall student experience.
- Maintaining the college’s existing facilities.
- Constructing a new $42 million science center.
The college enters Campaign St. Norbert: Full Ahead with significant momentum. Recent years have seen record enrollment, both in size and in qualifications; recognition in national college rankings; several high-impact building projects; and the adoption of an admissions waiting list for the first time in college history.
St. Norbert president Thomas Kunkel says: “We are convinced this is St. Norbert’s time – a time for us to be bold in our thinking. We have the aspiration. We have the faculty and staff talent. We have a broad base of passionate supporters. This really and truly is a campus on the move.”
The campaign is slated to run through 2016, but according to Phil Oswald (College Advancement), substantial early commitments to the fundraising effort have already been made.
“We’re blessed to have an exceptionally supportive community, deeply committed to the college and its mission,” Oswald says. “People understand what we’re doing here. They know the value of this institution to the region, and they know that St. Norbert produces difference-makers. They’re eager to be a part of this campaign.”
Oswald is particularly encouraged by the strong early support for the new science center, for which more than half of the needed $42 million has been raised. “This will be a transformational project for the college,” he says. “We are constructing a facility that will be a beacon not just for students who want to study the sciences, but faculty who want to teach them. The laboratories and technological capabilities of the science center will be exceptional for a liberal arts college of our size.”
