Valuing community

The reality of COVID-19 requires the college to limit the number of people we welcome to our campus, for the safety of all. As a temporary measure, we will follow guidelines that keep our campus community safe – which will, in turn, help keep the wider community safe as well. We look forward to the day we can once again widely open our doors to the public and share our commitment to radical hospitality.

Conferences, events and other gatherings

The following safety measures are in place for on-campus gatherings and events:

  • In general, attendance at gatherings is limited to 50 people or fewer. It’s possible for some gatherings to have more or fewer in attendance, depending on the capacity that allows for physical distancing to be maintained.
  • Seating at conferences or events will be physically distanced.
  • Public attendance at events will be very limited and by invitation only.
  • Masks will be required by all guests; they will not be provided by the college.
  • Limited catering continues to be available through Conference & Event Services. The department is adhering to physical distancing guidelines and new health protocols and is following state and local guidelines.

Admission tours

The office of admission again is welcoming prospective students and their families to campus for tours and meetings, but continues to follow strict health and safety protocols.

Virtual visits continue to be made available for prospective students and families. Options include one-to-one online or phone meetings with admission counselors and student-led video tours.

Performances

The following safety measures are in place for performances on campus:
  • Live-streaming options for performances are available.
  • The in-person capacity for venues including Walter Theatre, Webb Theatre and Birder Hall has been reduced to comply with the 6-foot physical distancing rule.
  • The number of participants in performances is reduced to allow for as much physical distancing backstage as possible.
  • Theatre entrances and public bathrooms have been marked to maintain physical distancing while queuing.
  • The box office can support touchless payments and implement print-at-home and mobile tickets.
  • Disposable masks will be on hand for guests.
  • Whenever possible, events will be reorganized to eliminate intermissions.
  • Enhanced cleaning measures are in place, including the installation of sanitizing stations and enhanced cleaning of personal performance equipment such as microphones and musical instruments.
