A few COVID-19 updates and reminders for students

Sept. 1, 2020

Dear students,

We hope your semester is off to a great start! This email contains several valuable updates and reminders to help you partner in SNC’s response to COVID-19.

Your COVID-19 care kit
The college has assembled and provided a COVID-19 care kit for each student. The care kit was distributed to each student’s campus mailbox last week. If you haven’t received yours, please check your mailbox in the Campus Center. The kits contain a branded SNC mask, a bottle of surface cleaner and a microfiber rag. The cleaner and the rag should be used to clean your personal classroom spaces before and after class. When your spray bottle needs to be refilled or you need a clean microfiber rag, you can exchange those items at one of the following locations:

  • Mulva Library circulation desk
  • Office of Residential Education & Housing in Todd Wehr Hall
  • Mail Center information desk in the Campus Center

Working with offices and departments on campus
If you have questions about the format of resources or services across campus, refer to the COVID-19 Return-to-Campus Plan operations grid for the current state of operations for various offices or departments.

Dining on campus
This is a reminder that meal-plan service is being offered both in Ruth’s Marketplace and the Hendrickson Dining Room of the Bemis International Center this semester. You can see the menu for both locations on the dining website.

Campus buildings, traffic patterns and meeting spaces
In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, entry to all campus buildings requires swipe access for entry this year. Carry your SNC ID card with you at all times to ensure you can get into everywhere you need to go.

New traffic patterns have been developed for many buildings on campus, including designated exterior entrances and exits. These patterns are indicated by on-site signage throughout the campus.

The furniture in campus buildings, including classrooms, has been arranged to accommodate physical distancing. Please don’t move the furniture!

Student meetings
If you or your student organization would like to reserve campus space for a meeting, please contact event services at 920-403-4000.

If you plan to enjoy food as part of your student meetings, please serve only pre-packaged food items and follow these guidelines to mitigate the risk of spreading illness:

  • Clean your eating surface or surface on which pre-packaged food items are placed
  • Mask until the time you eat
  • Wash your hands
  • Pick up your pre-packaged snack or meal
  • Wash your hands before eating
  • Eat your pre-packaged snack or meal
  • Wash your hands
  • Mask, again, after eating
Always, maintain six feet of physical distance.

Basic health and safety reminders
  • The three W’s: WEAR your mask, WASH your hands, WATCH your distance from others.
  • You must monitor your symptoms daily
  • If you are experiencing any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, or have recently been exposed to someone who potentially has COVID-19, you may not come to campus or, if on campus, leave your room. Please immediately notify Health Services during clinic hours or Campus Safety/REH on-call staff after hours.
  • Make sure you’re familiar with the complete list of required health and safety precautions.
COVID-19 case response
The college’s COVID-19 case response policy provides a comprehensive overview of how the college will handle cases of the virus on campus. In the event that you are required to quarantine due to exposure to a confirmed positive case or isolate due to your own positive case of COVID-19, you are asked to return home to your permanent residence, if possible, until it is safe to return to campus. Be sure to coordinate this with Health Services during clinic hours or Campus Safety/REH on-call staff after hours.

We continue to be grateful for your flexibility and commitment to the well-being of all in our community.
