Make it a great weekend, Green Knights!

Sept. 4, 2020

Dear students,

We’re two weeks into the semester — way to go! We continue to see so many examples of students following our health and safety guidelines, and we’re so grateful. We all look forward to the time when we are able to do simple things like sit next to each other and have an unmasked conversation. Your ongoing care with masks, distance and cleaning is the key to keeping us all together living and learning in person. Keep it up!

As we head into this three-day weekend, I’d like to offer a few reminders:

  • Outside is safer than inside. The weekend forecast is a mix right now. When the skies are friendly, get outside if you can. Here are some ideas: Walk the Fox River Trail or the neighborhood, head to a local park or nature preserve, or even just sit by the river.
  • You’re safer staying put on campus. If you are traveling, it’s critical that you take extra precautions. By traveling, you’ll be extending your circle, so attention to the 3 W’s (wear a mask, watch your distance and wash your hands) will be extremely important.
  • Socialize safely with friends. You’ve earned some down time! Please keep it safe, though. Bars and crowded parties in enclosed spaces are not safe. Have fun, but have it smartly in small groups where you can keep safe physical distance.
We believe in you! Let’s make this a great weekend!
