Safer at SNC update

Oct. 9, 2020

Dear students,

As you are well aware, the original Safer at SNC Order is in place through Monday morning, Oct. 12. As a college, we should feel proud of our ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. Thanks to each and every one of you who continues to make prudent decisions. We know our campus guidelines can be challenging. By observing the guidelines, you have demonstrated your care for one another, your faculty and staff, and the wider community. Following the guidelines we have in place allows our students to continue living and learning on campus.

While we celebrate the better numbers on campus in recent days, we know we must stay vigilant. As has been made clear by Wisconsin’s governor, as well as both Brown County and De Pere Public Health, we live and learn in a wider landscape that is facing high levels of COVID-19 spread.

For that reason, we are continuing the Safer at SNC Order for the foreseeable future, with some adaptations and added clarifications.

Safer at SNC Order Parameters

  • Residential students must be in their own residence from midnight until 6 a.m. each day of the week.
  • Between midnight and 6 a.m. each day, you may not have guests in your residence, whether they be other SNC students or guests from off campus.
  • All alcohol fines remain doubled, and the severity of other alcohol sanctions will be proportionately increased.
  • The campus is closed to the general public.

Safer at SNC FAQs

  • Can I order food delivery to my campus residence past midnight?
    • Students are permitted to mask, go to the lobby to receive a food delivery and promptly return to their room.
  • Can I leave my room to go to the bathroom or shower?
    • Yes.
  • What type of campus housing is covered under this order?
    • This order applies to all campus residential facilities including residence halls, townhouses, apartments, houses and any other housing facility the college operates.

    • It is acceptable to leave your residence early for such reasons. Feel free to consult your area coordinator with any questions about adhering to the hours.
  • Will other campus buildings be open longer now?
    • The hours for a variety of campus facilities have again been updated. See below for details.
  • Can my friend or family member visit me at SNC?
    • At this time, you may still have guests, but they must leave by midnight each night. Your guests must observe campus health guidelines including masking and remaining physically distant from other college community members.
  • Did quiet hours change?
    • No, they did not. Quiet hours still begin at 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights and midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

We’ve got this, Green Knights!
