COVID-19 reminders

Oct. 21, 2020

Dear SNC students,

First off, thank you! The low numbers on the COVID-19 case dashboard reflect an impressive commitment by students – and the whole of our college community – to stop the spread of COVID-19 on campus. We appreciate the extra care and flexibility you’ve shown this semester.

As we enter the colder months, we want to offer you a few reminders:

Enhanced cleaning
One way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is through enhanced and frequent cleaning of surfaces. We encourage you to use the bottle of cleaner and the microfiber rag you were provided in your COVID-19 care kit at the beginning of the semester to clean your personal living and classroom spaces. When your spray bottle needs to be refilled or you need a clean microfiber rag, you can exchange those items at one of the following locations:

  • Mulva Library circulation desk
  • Office of Residential Education & Housing in Todd Wehr Hall
  • Mail Center information desk in the Campus Center
We will continue issuing COVID Cash to students who are seen complying with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Flu vaccines
Receiving a flu vaccine is more important than ever this year and is highly recommended for all students, faculty and staff. Since the flu is another respiratory illness with similar symptoms to COVID-19, receiving a flu vaccine decreases the likelihood you’ll need to be tested for COVID-19-like symptoms and required to isolate while waiting for your test results.

The flu vaccine is widely available, including through your primary care provider, local pharmacies and St. Norbert College Health Services. To receive a flu vaccine on campus, make an appointment and follow these instructions from Health Services.

For more information about influenza and for tips on how to prevent it, visit the Center for Disease Control’s Seasonal Influenza Questions and Answers webpage.

When you’re having fun, remember safety
You have worked hard this semester under very difficult circumstances. With Halloween around the corner, we want to remind you to have fun safely. Prevention & Wellness Education, Residential Education & Housing, Party.0 and others have teamed up to plan an evening of COVID-safe fun on Saturday, Oct. 31. Festivities include a Halloween costume contest, food, movies and more! Or, you could celebrate with a small group of friends by hosting a game night, Halloween potluck or spooky movie marathon. Celebrate smartly in order to keep yourself out of isolation, your friends out of quarantine and your family safe. (You’re headed back home soon!)

Keep up the great work, Green Knights!
