MWC suspends athletics competition for fall and winter sports

Dec. 3, 2020

Dear students, faculty and staff,

We want you to know that the Midwest Conference has just announced that it will not sponsor league competition, including championships, for fall and winter sports during the 2020-21 academic year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

St. Norbert College sports affected are men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s indoor track and field and women’s volleyball.

As a result of this decision, student-athletes will no longer need to move in early; they should plan on moving in with the rest of their classmates for the start of the spring semester on Feb. 1, 2021.

As with the fall semester, coaches will continue to support, develop and engage their individual student-athletes and teams during the spring semester, including through practices, performance training, leadership training and by supporting the academic experiences of their athletes.

The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference have not yet reached decisions on competition for 2020-21. St. Norbert belongs to the NCHA in men’s and women’s hockey and to the NACC in men’s volleyball and men’s and women’s golf.

You can find more information in this press release. If you have further questions about this announcement, please contact covid19response@snc.edu.

Sincerely,

Jenn Bonds-Raacke, Ph.D.
