Important health reminders

Feb. 5, 2021

Dear Students,

It’s great to see the campus back to life and all of you bundled up and walking to class, the café, the library and more! It’s been too long since you were all here.

We want to remind you that these safety precautions all remain in place:

  • Masks are to be worn on campus indoors and outside
  • Physical distancing is to be observed in classes, the library, campus dining facilities, and other campus buildings
  • Good hand hygiene and surface cleaning should be followed to give you protection from COVID, influenza, and other illnesses
  • Daily monitoring for symptoms

We are hearing some students think these precautions don’t apply because of their negative entry test. We’re thrilled so many of you tested negative, but tests only offer a point-in-time result. They do not provide any ongoing guarantee that you haven’t become infected.

We also know that some of you work in health care fields and have received one or both doses of vaccine. That is great news! At this time, Wisconsin Department of Health Services guidance indicates that even people who are fully vaccinated should mask in public, physically distance, and follow quarantine or isolation protocols if they are subject to them.

Like you, we look forward to the day when these precautions are no longer needed. But at this time, they are required on campus and are our best avenue for keeping our community healthy.

Welcome back!
