COVID-19 update: Vaccination rate, guest policy and state incentive program

Sept. 10, 2021

Dear SNC students,

A huge thank-you to all of you who are so diligently working to keep one another safe on our campus! While we would all like to be on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to focus on striking a balance between important public health guidelines and providing you with a more typical college experience. With that in mind, we have a few updates we’d like to share with you:

Student vaccination rate
As of Monday, Sept. 6, 64 percent of our students have received both COVID-19 vaccinations! As that number continues to climb, we’ll be able to move even closer to that normal college experience we’re all hoping for. The college continues to strongly recommend the COVID-19 vaccination for all members of the college community who can safely be vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines are effective, free and widely available – and, most important, they are safe. (See below for info on how you can get vaccinated.)

Residence hall guest policy
At this time, we are unable to rescind the residence hall guest policy that was put in place at the start of the pandemic. Because of high levels of transmission in the surrounding community as well as the current vaccination rate on campus, no external guests will be permitted to stay overnight on campus. We will reassess the guest policy as our campus vaccination rate improves.

Get vaccinated, get $100!
I’m excited to share with you that last week, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services extended the eligibility for the $100 COVID-19 Vaccine Reward Program to Sept. 19! Anyone aged 12 and up in Wisconsin who gets their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination by Sept. 19 can receive a $100 U.S. Bank Rewards card. (Those who get their first dose in Michigan or Minnesota are also eligible.)

If you got your first vaccination dose after Aug. 20, fill out the form at 100.wisconsin.gov. If you haven’t yet gotten your first dose, sign up for an appointment at Health Services by calling 920-403-3266, or find other vaccination locations. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to protect yourself and others AND earn some extra cash!

Students, we are proud of how the semester is going thus far, and proud of all you are doing! Thank you for your cooperation with masking indoors. And thank you to not-yet-vaccinated students who have complied with entry testing and surveillance testing. We hope as time passes and as vaccination rates increase that we can get closer to post-pandemic life on campus.

As always, if you have any questions we encourage you to send them to covid19response@snc.edu. This allows us to route your question to the person or office best able to respond.

Be well, Green Knights!

Mr. Webb
