Volunteer Wisconsin AmeriCorps at St. Norbert College
AmeriCorps, often referred to as a domestic Peace Corps, places individuals within communities to commit a year to serving others. Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach is a national service grantee. Marshfield Clinic Volunteer Wisconsin AmeriCorps places individuals with nonprofits across Wisconsin.

This program places individuals with nonprofit organizations across Wisconsin to build and strengthen volunteer programs. Individuals will receive focused training in volunteer management then assist with such tasks as: recruiting, training and supervising volunteers; creating volunteer handbooks, application forms, and brochures; writing position descriptions; updating website content and coordinating social media; and other (non-volunteer) tasks specific to the mission of the nonprofit.

Period of Service:
Monday, September 12, 2016 - September 13, 2017 (End date is negotiable)

- $481.92 (gross before taxes) bi-weekly payroll for term of service

What does it mean to serve?
Applicants must be willing to serve for the duration of the term of service (1700 hours minimum), averaging approximately 32 - 40 hours a week. Members must also be able to handle the financial commitment made by accepting the position.

Sturzl Center/St. Thomas More Partnership Coordinator Position Description:

The St. Norbert College/St. Thomas More Partnership Coordinator will create a program that connects volunteers and resources from St. Norbert College (SNC) to the resources and opportunities at St. Thomas More (STM) school. The AmeriCorps member will join the three person staff of the SNC Sturzl Center for Community Service and Learning AND join the 14 full-time staff at STM to create this program.

The Coordinator will work at both sites. During a typical day of service at SNC the member may work on administrative tasks (e.g., planning, grant writing and assessment), helping students (e.g., recruitment, training, and reflection activities) or assisting staff/faculty (e.g., program development, education, and support.) During a typical day of service at St. Thomas More the member may work as a staff member in a project related to the member's skills and interest (e.g., athletics, music, office administration, translating, tutoring, family support, etc.) The amount of time spent at each site will be determined based on the needs of the site at different times of the year. Cassandra Voss Center Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator Position Description:

In a world frequently in conflict, the St. Norbert College Cassandra Voss Center (CVC) fosters dialogue across difference towards "transformative thinking for a just world" related to issues of identity like gender, race, class, sexuality, and ability. The CVC Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator promotes the CVC, a new center in its third year of operation, by working on programming, major event planning, research, PR, and administrative tasks with two professional staff and six student staff.

The AmeriCorps member will build organizational capacity with volunteers, internal and external to the College, who support the Center's programming, helping it reach the fullest audience. In particular, the Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator will create Northeastern Wisconsin's first Masculinities Summit, connecting community organizations, corporations, and schools across the region to discuss masculinity as it relates to identity.

Minimum Qualifications for Either Position:
Must be 19 years of age by September 12, 2016, possess a high school diploma or GED/HSED, and agree to criminal and Department of Motor Vehicles background checks. Must be a problem solver who is goal oriented and solution driven. Must be outgoing and enjoy working with adults and, for the Sturzl position, youth as well.

Preferred Qualifications for Either Position:
Flexibility and willingness to learn; positive and striving personality; strong communication and interpersonal skills; excellent time management and organizational skills; experience with variety of computer applications (word, powerpoint, google suite); commitment to social justice and critical thinking. Interest in being part of something big & innovative. Willingness to work with community members and organizations.

For Sturzl Center: Strong writing and public speaking skills in both English and Spanish. Preference given to those having education, youth development, and/or service-learning experience.
