“Musica del Cielo: Sacred Music of Spain & the New World”

Oct. 11, 2011
6:30 p.m. Sacred Music
Old St. Joe’s Church

Performed by the St. Norbert College Music Department

This event is co-sponsored by the Killeen Chair, Center for Norbertine Studies, and Office of Mission and Student Affairs.

In Música del Cielo, members of the St. Norbert College Music Department explore the rich history of music that springs from the sacred traditions of Spain and the New World. Student and faculty performers will present an exciting tapestry of musical selections – ranging from the meditative sounds of Medieval chant to the infectious rhythms and appealing harmonies of Hispanic music today. Through solo voices, Spanish guitar, brass instruments, and choral musicians, we hope to share the powerful and prayerful variety of sacred Hispanic and Latino music throughout history, and to celebrate the joyful spirit of the Spanish church.
