Mid-Level Honors Band Festival at St. Norbert College

The St. Norbert College Music Department will present the twentieth annual Mid-Level Honors Band Festival on Saturday, November 8 at 4:00 p.m. in the Walter Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature a band of 165 seventh and eighth grade musicians from 55 schools, under the direction of composer Rob Grice, and a band of 75 ninth grade musicians from 32 schools, under the direction of composer Quincy Hilliard. Both Grice and Hilliard are internationally-known, and have an extensive number of published band works.

Frederick Schmidt, professor of music, clarinet and saxophone at St. Norbert, is the founder and director of the Mid-Level Honors Band Festival. Schmidt reports that the number of applications for this year
