St. Norbert College faculty members Fr. James P. Neilson, O. Praem., assistant professor of art, and soprano Yi-Lan Niu, assistant professor of music, voice, will present "Turning Old Pages, Singing New Notes" on Sept. 26., at the St. Norbert Abbey, 1016 N. Broadway De Pere, at 1 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to support the St. Norbert College Chamber Music Fund.

"Turning Old Pages, Singing New Notes" will feature the world premiere of new music composed by Alexander Nohai-Seaman and Jerry Hui, as well as a song cycle inspired by the life and words of the Trappist monk, poet, and social activist, Fr. Thomas Merton (1915-1968.)

Stimulated by the sacred environment of St. Norbert Abbey, the artistic legacy of the religious imagination, and images drawn from ancient Chinese poetry, this shared sculptural exhibition and musical concert will celebrate the "art and artistry of meditation." The collaborative concert seeks to combine and present both Western and Eastern aesthetics, the visual and the aural, the permanent and the ethereal, and the rhythms and movements of natural and religious rituals.
