Middle Level Honors Band Concert at St. Norbert College

The St. Norbert College music department will present the twenty-first annual Mid-Level Honors Band Concert on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 4:00 p.m. in the Walter Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts. This concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature a band of 165 seventh and eighth grade musicians from 55 schools, and a band of 75 ninth grade musicians from 32 schools. Guest artist composers are Robert Sheldon and Michael Sweeney.

Sheldon, from Bloomington, Ind., has received numerous awards from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Sweeney, from Cedarburg, Wis., has premiered his works at Indiana University, at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis, and at St. Olaf College's Urness Recital Hall with the St. Olaf Jazz Band.

Frederick Schmidt, professor of music, clarinet and saxophone at St. Norbert, is the founder and director of the Mid-Level Honors Band Festival.
