The St. Norbert College theatre program will present Aristophanes' "The Birds" starting Friday, Nov. 4, and running through Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Webb Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts on the St. Norbert College campus.

All shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of Nov. 6, when a 2 p.m. matinee will be presented, to be followed by a discussion with the cast.

Aristophanes' play tells the story of Pisthetaerus, an Athenian who convinces the world's birds to create a city in the sky, in order to control communication between men and gods. With the birds' help, and advice from Prometheus, Pisthetaerus replaces Zeus as king of the gods.

Stephen Rupsch, assistant professor of theatre studies and director of theatre, will direct the production, and scenography will be handled by April Beiswenger, assistant professor of theatre studies. Theatre studies major Kari Fritsch (De Pere, Wis.) will manage lighting.
