De Pere: St. Norbert College's Young Artist Workshop, or YAW, is a summer program for children and young adults, ages 3 to 21, with disabilities. YAW helps students build their self-esteem through a greater appreciation and direct participation in the visual and performing arts. Three weeks are offered to attend YAW; Tuesday July 6-Friday July 9; Monday July 12-Thursday July 15; and Monday July 19-Thursday July 22. The students interact at either St. Norbert College from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or Syble Hopp School, De Pere, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Children attend daily sessions with a variety of adaptive arts specialists to help the children achieve and extend their potential and self-esteem. They will experience adaptive visual arts, adaptive music specialists, adaptive dance and movement, and computer activities. July 2004 celebrates the 20th anniversary for Young Artist Workshops, with 120 students attending. For more information contact Director Mark Hillert at (920) 403-3176 or mark.hillert@snc.edu.
