St. Norbert College to Host Dr. Abraham Nussbaum for Lecture on Health-Care Reform

Abraham Nussbaum, M.D. will give a lecture at St. Norbert College on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Fort Howard Theater of the F. K. Bemis International Center on the college campus. He will lecture on "Moving from Health-Care Reform to the Renewal of Medicine." The lecture, which is presented by the St. Norbert College Center for Norbertine Studies, is free and open to the public.

Despite advances in medicine, patients, physicians, and policymakers experience health care in increasingly different ways. Nussbaum will use an interactive, narrative review of health-care reform to consider why the modern care of the sick is broken, current proposals to reform health care, and the possibility of moving beyond reform to health-care renewal.

Nussbaum is the chief education officer at Denver Health Medical Center, as well as an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He received his M.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and his M.T.S. from Duke Divinity School. Dr. Nussbaum is the author or co-author of four books and has contributed chapters to several more. He also serves on the editorial boards of three prominent scholarly journals and is a reviewer for numerous others. His scholarly interests include: behavioral health; health-care ethics; and the intersection of faith and medicine.
