St. Norbert College celebrates the distinguished 50-year career of tattoo artist Rick Harnowski in “The Needle Has Moved,” a retrospective art exhibit on display today, Oct. 8, through Friday, Nov. 2. The exhibit is displayed in the Baer and Godschalx Galleries at the Carol & Robert Bush Art Center on the college’s campus. It is free and open to the public. An opening reception will take place on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5-7 p.m.
The exhibit features work by Harnowski, owner and operator of Tattoos By Rick in Green Bay, Wis. Harnowski’s work has been featured in museums, galleries and top tattoo magazines around the world. Known for his imaginative custom pieces, Harnowski has tattooed several members of the Green Bay Packers, including Donald Driver and Charles Woodson.
Curated by Brian Pirman, associate professor of art at St. Norbert College, and the Rev. Jim Neilson, continuing part-time assistant professor of art at St. Norbert College, the exhibit aims to celebrate tattooing as an art form.
