St. Norbert College's Peace and Justice Center is sponsoring Poverty Awareness
Week, Nov. 6-10. Throughout the week, a number of events open to the college
and the community will be held to raise consciousness of the reality of poverty in
the world. All events are free.
The St. Norbert College Habitat for Humanity group sponsors a campus-wide
event called SHACK-A-THON. This event helps create awareness about
homelessness and will raise money for the St. Norbert College/Habitat for
Humanity service trip to Little Rock, Ark. this winter. The cost to take part in
SHACK-A-THON is twenty dollars for a group of 4 or more or four dollars per
person for a group of three or less.
Shack construction will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 and the SHACK-A-
THON will begin at 7 p.m. in front of the St. Norbert College Campus Center.
Student groups from St. Norbert, Lawrence and UWGB along with St. Norbert
College faculty and members of the greater community will build shacks out of
their own materials or materials provided. Representatives from each group will
live in the shack during the night. This event will wrap up on Tuesday, Nov. 7
at 7 a.m.
