St. Norbert College along with the De Pere Greenhouse will host the Soul Food Dinner Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union. The theme for the event is "History is a People's Memory: The Importance of Black History Month." Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for students and children under the age of twelve. To order tickets, contact the St. Norbert College Box Office at (920) 403-3950 or 800-762-2699. (Update: tickets are now sold out.) This year's Soul Food Dinner will feature keynote speaker Kevin Powell, author of "Who's Gonna Take the Weight? Manhood, Race, and Power in America." Powell has been hailed as one of the most important voices of his generation. Famed scholar, Michael Eric Dyson, calls Powell "one of America's most brilliant young cultural critics." Green Bay's all female step team, "Keeping It Real," will also be featured performers. Step dance incorporates traditional and contemporary African ritual dancing with various elements of hip hop dance steps.
