Jocelyn Purtell has joined Mercer's outsourcing business as Head of US Operations, effective April 1, 2008. In this role, she will be responsible for running all of Mercer's U.S. operations, with a primary focus on transforming Mercer's operational platform and processes in order to optimize service delivery and efficiencies for clients. She will be based in Mercer's Deerfield, Illinois office.
Michael Sternklar, Chief Operating Officer and Head of the Americas for Mercer's outsourcing business said, "Adding Jocelyn, with her deep industry knowledge and proven track record of success, is a tremendous win for Mercer and our outsourcing business. She brings extensive experience in building standard, scaleable operational platforms that are also flexible enough to meet the needs of the largest and most sophisticated clients. These skills fit very well with Mercer's strategic direction and ongoing transformation of our outsourcing business as we continue to grow."
Sternklar, who himself joined the firm from Fidelity in mid-2007, went on to note that Ms. Purtell is the latest in a number of select senior executive hires that Mercer has made over the past year in order to support the rapid growth of its outsourcing business. In 2007 alone, Mercer's outsourcing arm implemented 40 separate pieces of business. Ms. Purtell has more than 22 years of experience in the human resources outsourcing industry. Prior to joining Mercer, she spent her career at Hewitt Associates, which she joined in 1985 and where she rose to Senior Vice President, North America Operations Outsourcing Leader, managing Hewitt's 10,000+ employee North American Operations group and responsible for servicing more than 400 large-market clients. During this time she was also a member of the Hewitt Leadership Council, which consisted of the top 20 executives across the firm.
Ms. Purtell holds a bachelor of business administration degree from St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wisconsin.
