The North Atlantic current brings warm waters from the tropics to the west coast of which continent? Answer: Europe.
104 young geographers from across the state will try and answer similar questions during the Wisconsin Geography Bee Friday, April 4, at St. Norbert College.
Winners in the state competition will advance to the National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C., on May 20-21.
Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject and increase public awareness about geography.
Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for this test of geographic knowledge.
For more information on the Wisconsin Geography Bee contact Mark Bockenhauer at mark.bockenhauer@snc.edu. For more on the National Geographic Bee go to http://www.nationalgeographic.com/geographybee/.
