A Note from President Kunkel

It was great to see so many of you at Homecoming, SNC Day/Family Weekend, our Heritage Week celebrations and all the other events that have punctuated an especially busy autumn around here. These beautiful fall weekends, with football games and the technicolor foliage as a backdrop, are exactly what many of us call to mind when we think about college campuses.

A few weeks ago we opened the Cassandra Voss Center, the former St. John’s Hall at Third and Grant streets. Over the years the building has housed everything from Admissions to Residence Life to the ROTC program. Now it’s been gloriously restored and reimagined, and it's already seeing vibrant programming around women’s and gender issues and hosting student organizations.

Down the street at the library, our students came back from the summer to find the new Mulva Studio, a state-of-the-art study space created from the Mulva Library’s previously unfinished basement. Whether a student wants to work alone or with a group of five friends, there's a perfect spot just waiting for them.

The Gehl-Mulva Science Center continues to go up in the northeast corner of campus. Workers are ahead of schedule, and the entire project will be closed in and weather-tight for the winter to allow construction to continue unabated.

Meantime, hundreds of prospective parents and their families have been touring campus, and applications are running strong. It seems many of them already have decided they want to be a part of the St. Norbert Experience!

All the best to you and yours for the holidays,
President Kunkel
