Humans of St. Norbert:

“It's kind of funny, I've always done artwork. The first time I remember, I was in grade school, maybe third grade. I had just gotten a new desk from my mom and dad and I had drawn a picture of a tree with crayon, you know, with the little hole in it and a pond with ducks. I made the little waves and I remember thinking, ‘I really like this.’ That was just the first thing I remember doing that I felt like, ‘Wow, I can do this.’ I always say that's where it stems from, that drawing.

“Ever since then, I have done all kinds of stuff. In high school, I did work for people, paintings or drawings of them or of animals. Even in high school, the art teacher had me do murals in the grade school and high schools.

“Painting with acrylics [has been] my favorite. I've tried watercolor and I feel like I couldn't get the intensity of the colors. I’ve tried oil and would like to get back into oil painting.

“I don't feel like I have a style. I feel like I'm very eclectic. Even though most of my stuff is acrylic, I have started using a palette knife more. It just adds so much texture. It's challenging when you’re used to using a paintbrush and now you have this knife. I can do very realistic things, but then I need to do something abstract. I need to do something where there are no boundaries.” – Christine Gill, administrative specialist for Title IX and compliance.
