Advice for writers 
It's important to keep in mind what the assignment actually is. Take a few minutes before you start to really try to understand what the prompt is asking. Also, if the professor provides some sort of rubric, be aware of what the expectations are.

How do you get started on a writing assignment?
I try to come up with a direction I want to take and then make sure that my thesis and main points are relevant to the topic. From there, I usually write my body paragraphs first and then come back to the intro at the end to make sure that it reflects and summarizes everything I wrote about.
