Green Knights Survive Five-Set Battle at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College won its first five-set match of the season with a 3-2 win over Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference match at Glennie Gym. The Green Knights won the match 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-7.

The Green Knights (13-14, 7-2 MWC) won for the sixth match in a row behind outstanding offense in the decisive fifth set. St. Norbert converted eight kills with just one error in 17 attempts in the fifth set to put away the Scots (9-14, 4-5). St. Norbert ended the match hitting .188, with 54 kills and 22 errors in 170 attempts.

Heidi Spies finished 20 kills in 54 attempts against six errors, and she also had 11 digs, four blocks and three service aces. Breanne Brocker turned in a match-high 25 digs while finishing nine kills with three service aces.

Anika Johnson had 14 kills and four blocks, while Aubree Antosch had 21 digs. Hannah Johnshoy had 17 digs, and Katie Stewart finished with 16. Abby West totaled 24 assists, while Kaitlin Delahaut had 18.

Monmouth got 18 kills from Mackenzie Gillund and 14 more from Lorin Pedersoli. Mollie Murdock had 44 assists, while Gillund added 18 digs.
