St. Norbert Takes Fourth at Prairie Fire Classic

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened the spring portion of the 2013-14 season with a fourth-place finish at the Knox College Prairie Fire Classic at Gibson Woods Golf Course.

The Green Knights shot a 316-302--618. Monmouth College "Red" won the team title with a 303-302--605. Monmouth's Drake Decker was the medalist with a 74-73--147.

St. Norbert's Brandon Gries and Nic Vrubley finished in a three-way tie for second. Both golfers carded rounds of 76 and 74 to finish with an eight-over par 150.

Ben Verbeten finished in a tie for 18th place with an 83-74--157. Jacob Hebbard finished in a tie for 26th with an 81-80--161. Hebbard registered a hole-in-one in the first round on Gibson Woods' Par 3 No. 8 hole.

Tony Arnold was tied for 43rd with a score of 90-86--176.
