Three Earn All-MWC Baseball Accolades

DE PERE - St. Norbert College placed three players on the 2015 All-Midwest Conference North Division baseball team announced today by the league office.

Senior pitcher Matt Freeman, sophomore infielder Derek Klegin and senior infielder Troy Rottier all earned first-team All-MWC North Division honors. Coach Tom Winske was also named North Division Coach of the Year.

Freeman, a Green Bay native, is 2-2 overall with a 3.33 earned run average and .233 batting average against. In 51 1/3 innings pitched, he has allowed 45 hits with 47 strikeouts. In MWC North play, Freeman was 2-1 with a 2.23 earned run average with 38 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings pitched with a .186 batting average against.

Klegin, a Marinette native, is hitting .379 overall with 32 runs scored, 50 hits, 14 doubles and 21 stolen bases - all team-highs. Klegin hit .407 in MWC North Division action with 19 runs scored, 12 runs batted in and 10 stolen bases.

Rottier, a Seymour native, is hitting .372 overall with 29 runs scored, four home runs and 29 runs batted in. During MWC North Division play, Rottier hit .357 with three home runs and 15 runs batted in.

Winske claimed his eighth MWC North Division Coach of the Year honor during his 17-year tenure after leading the Green Knights to an 11-4 mark in league play.

St. Norbert is 19-16 overall heading into Friday's MWC Tournament at Grinnell College.
