GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College finished in third place at the Midwest Conference Tournament following an 8-4 loss to Cornell College at Grinnell College's Pioneer Park.

The Green Knights (20-18) were tied with the Rams 4-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, but Cornell's Wyatt Kurzejeski's grand slam with one out ended St. Norbert's season.

St. Norbert took an early 1-0 lead when Troy Rottier's double scored Brandon Kozinski. Cornell answered with three runs on five hits in the bottom of the first.

The 3-1 Rams lead would hold up until Cornell added a single run in the bottom of the sixth. St. Norbert mounted a late rally, getting a run on a Derek Klegin sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and knotted the game 4-4 on a two-run double by Tyler Brown in the ninth.

St. Norbert had 10 hits and left 14 runners on base. Rottier finished 3-for-5, while Brown was 2-for-4.

Jake McMahon took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in three innings of relief.
