Green Knights Fall in Final Minute of Overtime

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College gave up a goal with 27 seconds left in the second overtime and dropped a 2-1 decision to Illinois College in a Midwest Conference match at England Stadium.

The Green Knights (6-4, 3-1) suffered their first conference loss in the defeat, despite outshooting the Lady Blues (4-6-2, 1-2-1) by a 36-17 margin.

Ashley Sholmire's goal at the 109:33 mark was the game-winning goal for Illinois College off an assist from Kaylen Sims.

Illinois College took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Bianca Savarese at 35:30. The Green Knights weren't able to get the equalizer until 66:46 when Monica Stephans scored her fifth goal of the season on an unassisted marker.

St. Norbert's Katie Vanden Avond saw an eight-game goal scoring streak snapped after being held scoreless for just the second time this season despite taking 11 shots.

Illinois College's Cat Solberg made 15 saves, while Maddie Plinska made four stops for the Green Knights.
