Green Knights Come Up Short Against Benedictine, Millikin

CLERMONT, Fla. - St. Norbert College lost two games on its third day of play in Florida, falling to Benedictine University 4-2 in eight innings and 9-1 to Millikin University.

St. Norbert (0-6) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force extra innings against Benedictine. The Green Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Morgan Schillinger walked with two outs. Tia Danforth then followed with her second home run of the season.

The Green Knights then had runners at second and third with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Brooke Wilson led off the inning being hit by a pitch. Kaitlyn Amundson's sacrifice bunt was then thrown away to move both players up two bases. However, a strikeout, a popup and a groundout squelched the rally.

Benedictine then scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure the win. Francesca Marrese took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing five hits and three runs in four innings of relief.

St. Norbert had two hits - Danforth's home run and a double by Schillinger.

Against Millikin, the Big Blue scored seven runs in the second inning to put the game away early. The Green Knights had three hits, including a solo home run by Amundson in the fourth inning.

Marrese took the loss for St. Norbert, allowing 10 hits and nine runs in 4 1/3 innings pitched.
