Green Knights Can't Hold Lead at Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College carried a one-goal lead into the third period but couldn't hold off Marian University, suffering a 4-3 loss to the Sabres in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Blue Line Family Ice Center.

The Green Knights (3-7-1, 2-5-1 NCHA) held a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes but Marian (4-7, 3-5) responded with two third-period goals. The Sabres' Emily Everson scored at the 5-minute mark and Sheila Blower scored at 7:45 for the eventual game-winning goal.

St. Norbert had an extra attacker on the ice for the final 2 minutes 15 seconds but couldn't get the equalizer.

Following a scoreless first period, Selena Stromer put the Green Knights ahead 2-0 with a pair of power-play goals at 1:04 and 3:28 of the second period. Marian answered with a goal by Everson at 8:52 and a marker from Sarah Bier at 17:10. St. Norbert pulled ahead 3-2 when Emily Bondrager scored at 18:01.

Marian outshot St. Norbert 28-22. Leigh Grall made 24 saves for the Green Knights while Lindsey Strainis made 19 stops for Marian.

St. Norbert was 2-for-2 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-4.
