St. Norbert Grinds Past Crown

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College benefited from 16 hits and eight hit batsmen en route to a 13-8 win over Crown College at Lake Myrtle Park.

The Green Knights (3-3) rallied from a 4-3 deficit through four innings with four runs in the fifth inning and four more runs an inning later.

Hunter Larson had a sacrifice fly in the first inning, while Sean Grant had a run-scoring single and Jacob Raeder an RBI in the third inning as St. Norbert took a 3-2 lead. The Storm answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 4-3 lead.

St. Norbert mounted a pair of big innings in the fifth and sixth frames. Sean Ferraro tied the game with a run-scoring double, while Grant hit a sacrifice fly. Hunter Larson and Tyler Banovich added RBI singles later in the inning. The Green Knights put together three hits and took advantage of four Crown errors to push four runs across in the sixth inning. Jack Maastricht had a sacrifice fly and Brett Reinhart an RBI single during the uprising.

Crown scored a run in the seventh inning but St. Norbert answered with a single run in its half when Maastricht plated Ferraro with a single. Grant's triple in the eighth inning brought around Lucas Reynolds. Crown closed out the scoring with three runs in the ninth inning.

St. Norbert had four sacrifice flies in the game, tied for third-most in NCAA Division III history. The Green Knights' eight hit batsmen are tied for seventh-most in Division III annals.

Grant was 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Andy Peterik was also 3-for-4 and had two runs scored. Banovich was 3-for-6, while Ferraro was 2-for-3 with four runs scored. Griffin Jack scored three runs.

Grayson Madey earned the win, working 4 2/3 innings of relief. Madey allowed three hits and one unearned run while walking one and striking out two.
