St. Norbert Splits on First Night of North Central Tournament

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College split a pair of matches on the first night of the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament at North Central College.

The Green Knights (16-6) opened with a five-set win over the host Cardinals, winning 25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 15-25, 15-10. Without a break, St. Norbert then turned around to face ninth-ranked Calvin College and lost 25-15, 25-9, 25-8.

St. Norbert ground out the match against North Central, and closed out the win after leading 10-9 in the fifth set. Lauren Meehan had 17 kills and 11 digs, while Sarah Sulentic added 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Danielle Remy had 10 kills and three blocks, while Abby West had 42 assists and Catherine Guido 24 digs. The Green Knights hit .206 for the match with 50 kills and 80 digs.

Against Calvin, Remy had seven kills and Guido added nine digs.

St. Norbert will face Wheaton College and No. 12 Hope College in its two Saturday matches in the tournament.
